Panic attacks and agoraphobia

A panic attack is an intense wave of fear that peaks within minutes. When avoidance of places and situations develops, this is called agoraphobia — a condition that can progressively restrict freedom of movement.

The approach

How we work.

CBT intervention combines physiological education about panic mechanisms, work on catastrophic thoughts, interoceptive exercises and gradual return to avoided situations. For agoraphobia, progressive exposure is the core of the pathway.

When to seek help

Signs not to overlook.

When fear of a new attack changes habits, reduces mobility or creates isolation. Even a single disabling episode can be reason enough to seek support.

What to expect

Timelines and format.

Improvements are often observed within the first few weeks of work. The pathway concludes when the person has experienced autonomy in managing anticipatory anxiety and feared situations.
